Bone is a living tissue and can be strengthened. When we hear the term “bone health,” we tend to think of the bone health of older adults. However, bone health is important at every age.

What Is Osteoporosis (Bone Loss)?

Osteoporosis, a type of skeletal system disease, can be defined as the weakening and increased fragility of bones due to a decrease in mineral density.

While osteoporosis is most commonly seen in postmenopausal women, it is also widespread due to many other factors, such as insufficient calcium intake, poor nutrition, a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, hormonal changes, and the use of certain medications. During the postmenopausal period, 75% of women suffer from bone loss. According to research, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men are at risk of a bone fracture.

Essential Minerals & Vitamins for Bone Health:

Calcium & Vitamin D3: Calcium and vitamin D are critical for bone health.

Vitamin D contributes to the absorption and utilization of calcium in the body, maintains normal blood calcium levels, and helps preserve normal bones.

Magnesium: It contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and muscle function. Magnesium, a mineral that is very important for the body, also contributes to the body’s normal energy metabolism.

Vitamin K (K2): Vitamin K regulates the accumulation of calcium in the body. It prevents excessive calcium buildup in the blood and kidneys and facilitates the transport of calcium from the blood vessels to the bones. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.
